Biography

Christopher Nolan, born on July 30, 1970, in London, grew up between London and Chicago, where his father worked as an advertising consultant. Passionate about cinema from a young age, he made short films with his father's Super 8 camera. He studied English literature at the University of London, where he founded a film club and created his first feature film, Following, in 1998.

He gained fame with Memento in 2000, an innovative film with a narrative alternating between chronological black and white scenes and reversed color scenes. In 2002, he directed Insomnia, a Norwegian remake, followed by the Batman trilogy: Batman Begins (2005), The Dark Knight (2008), and The Dark Knight Rises (2012).

Nolan has also directed ambitious and original films, such as The Prestige (2006), exploring the rivalry between two 19th-century magicians; Inception (2010), where a team of spies enters a target's dreams to implant an idea; Interstellar (2014), following a team of astronauts in search of a habitable planet; Dunkirk (2017), recounting the evacuation of Allied soldiers surrounded by the Nazis during World War II; Tenet (2020), with a secret agent manipulating time; and finally, Oppenheimer (2023), tracing the story of Robert Oppenheimer, the father of the atomic bomb.
